I accomplished something this morning that I have dreamed of since I was a teenager.
I bench-pressed 300 pounds for reps!
This is a goal I have been pursuing for a few years.
And to be clear, I am not on any performance-enhancing substances or TRT (testosterone replacement therapy).
I do take creatine every day and eat lots of 🥩 🥚 protein.
While I am thrilled to achieve this goal, the elation was short-lived because I have learned to love the process more than the goal.
In a few weeks, I will load up the bar with 301 and keep progressing.
How far will I push?
315
Why stop there?
I am only a few years away from 50. There are limits to what my body can do.
Training smart and avoiding injury while pursuing my goal is important to me.
I will write an article soon about my training progression and my current rep scheme that allows my middle-aged body plenty of time to recover after these heavy sessions.
Finally, for perspective below are my 1 rep max goals:
Bench press: 315 ✅
Squat: 405 ✅
Deadlif: 500 (not attempted yet)
Overhead Press: 200 ✅
