Over the past few days, I have witnessed one of the biggest marketing blunders I have ever seen.
USA Basketball’s decision to leave Caitlin Clark off the Olympic women’s basketball team was a huge missed opportunity.
– I understand that Caitlyn is a rookie.
– I know there are veterans who have been in the league longer than Caitlin.
However, she is the most popular player in the WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association) and draws more viewers than any other player right now.
Caitlin’s participation on the US women’s basketball squad would have attracted millions more viewers to watch the US team compete in the Olympics and helped further promote women’s basketball.
Leaving her off this team was simply a bad marketing and marketing decision by USA Basketball.
